TVS-872XT Disk order

Post by mariachi76 »

Hi,

my TVS-872 died today (as I learned they all do) and I removed all the 8 disks to prepare for RMA. After removing all of them, I noticed that of disks 7 and 8 I didn't write the slot number on it as I did on disks 1-6.
All 8 disks were in one Raid-6 single volume. What happens If I re-insert the disks after the repair and put disks 7 and 8 in the wrong order / wrong slot? I have a 50:50 change to get it right...
Will the system recognize that the disks are in wrong order and just cope with it, or will it warn me that the disks are in the wrong order, or will it just assume the raid 6 is degraded and start syncing the entire raid 6?

best regards

CAT2 device disks can go in, in any order you like

just make sure that you also move any m2, if you had any
