user account setup

Post by usao »

Completely lost.
Created users with GUI. However, GUI did not create any home directories.
So I logged in via ssh manually and created /share/MD0_DATA/homes/<user> and setup group permissions.
Tried to access via windows mount network location, asked for login/password, which didn't work with the credentials I created user account with.
Tried to delete user, GUI failed to remove directories.
removed manually.
GUI still showing directories which are deleted and won't let me re-create users or directories.
Completely hozed, not sure what to do at this point.
1) Why didn't GUI create home direcotry?
2) How to create home directory properly?
3) How to mount home directory share in Windows.

My guess is we are talking about an old CAT1 device (the MD0_DATA makes me think so)

But first things first
NAS Model?
Firmware?

Have you already logged in via web browser with the new user? the home folder is only created after a first login to QTS.
