Remove Volume: Delete the volume from the NAS, deleting any ability to recover any data within the volume.

Safely Detach Volume: Set up the volume such that it is no longer connected to the NAS, but all info on the volume is left intact,

AIUI, the idea behind the ability to detach a volume is to be able to move an external expansion chassis from one NAS to another.

I know this thread is ancient, but I wanted to say thanks.
I've been looking for over an hour and this is the first I could find that explained the difference between "Safely Detach Volume" and "Remove Volume".

MrVideo - you gotta be a saint, right? :)
Thank you!
