App Default volume does not exist

Post by akeohan »

I receive this error while trying to install a new app on my QNAP.

[App Center] App Default volume does not exist. Please go to "Storage Manager" to create a new volume before installing apps.

I have one Pool and one volume taking up 100% of that pool, not sure why its throwing this error? Since I have no room on the pool I can't create a new volume.
I have a TS-870U-RP running 4.2.2 Build 20160901

Any ideas would be great

Does your current volume say "(System)" after the name?

The Storage pool is called "Storage Pool 3" and the volume is called "-sspfile", I don't see anything that says System in the storage manager area.

Raise a ticket.
So you removed the first volume at some point. Have you rebooted since then?
If you removed the system volume you have to reinstall any apps previously installed on it or new apps on another volume.
Not sure why you're getting error then.

We revamped the array a few months ago and have rebooted since. Rebooted a week ago as well since new FW was just released. I guess I'll call support.

Just wanted to update everyone one that might find this.

The fix was: Go to QNAP GUI > Control Panel > Privilege Settings > Shared Folders to click [Restore Default Shared Folders].

Does the steps will reset the permission on all shared folders to the default?

I have several Shared Folders which has many user's account assigned on.

I just worry it will reset all access permission on those Shared Folders

thank you

Why that strange error that the OP got for not having the default folders?

The default folders seem very important to QTS, for some reason
NAS: TS-453Be

You saved my Weekend!! :D :D

I had this problem after putting 4 Drives in bays 1-4 and, new ones in 5-9
After copy-session: I got off the old ones and put the new ones into 1-4.

Booting took a while, but finally I got it working.
But there was still the old RAID in controllpanel/storage.

I even managed to delete that corpse but endet in neither beeing able to install apps nor copy data to the NAS :-(

Your solution cleared that issue

Thank Yuu very much!!!
