I migrate HD from TS-112 to TS-128.
Can I insert the HD into new TS-128?
I look the manual section "Migrating from Old NAS", this http://docs.qnap.com/nas/4.2.2/cat2/en/index.html
but the TS-128 model is not there in any list "NAS Models that Support System Migration" and "NAS Models that DO NOT Support System Migration".
What can I do?

if the manual says no .. then no .. you would have to start from scratch and transfer the data over

Re: Migrating HD from TS-112 to TS-128
if you have backups .. buy the new device and move the disk over .. if it works good .. if not ...move it back and transfer the files manually
or ask QNAP via support ticket (so they can also update the manual)

OK.
I sold alredy the TS-112.
If I move the disk over the TS-128, and it does not migrate, what it does?
Does it format the disk? Or does it ask me before to format?

Re: Migrating HD from TS-112 to TS-128
it should ask you...if it detects a QNAP device "signature" on the disk
well with the original device sold, that will be your only chance of making it work easy .. otherwise you might have to resort to mounting the disk on a linux PC and move it that way

If it doesn't say it can be migrated then it probably can't. Contact QNAP support to be sure.

Use RAID and external backups. RAID will protect you from disk failure, keep your system running, and data accessible while the disk is replaced, and the RAID rebuilt. Backups will allow you to recover data that is lost or corrupted, or from system failure. One does not replace the other.
