Mirror is enabled? Might not work [Images inside]

Post by adem2660 »

Is mirroring really enabled in my case?
It says "mirroring disk volume: Drive 2", but the free space is equal to total size for some reason.

How do I disable mirroring? Is it even enabled?

could it be that disk2 was part of a RAID1, disk1 was removed and then replaced with a smaller drive (hence the rebuild of the RAID1 was never done because it is too small)

replace disk1 with a 3TB drive to rebuild the RAID1

NAS model? Firmware version?
Use the forum search feature before posting.

Use RAID and external backups. RAID will protect you from disk failure, keep your system running, and data accessible while the disk is replaced, and the RAID rebuilt. Backups will allow you to recover data that is lost or corrupted, or from system failure. One does not replace the other.

NAS: TVS-882BR | F/W: 5.0.1.2346 | 40GB | 2 x 1TB M.2 SATA RAID 1 (System/VMs) | 3 x 1TB M.2 NMVe QM2-4P-384A RAID 5 (cache) | 5 x 14TB Exos HDD RAID 6 (Data) | 1 x Blu-ray
NAS: TVS-h674 | F/W: 5.0.1.2376 | 16GB | 3 x 18TB RAID 5
Apps: DNSMasq, PLEX, iDrive, QVPN, QLMS, MP3fs, HBS3, Entware, DLstation, VS, +

Do I just swap the to HDD's? I.e. put the 3 TB into slot 1 and and 2 TB into slot 2?

I have many files that I don't want to get deleted, so I'm kind of afraid of doing anything.

I have TS-259 Pro+ version 4.2.4 (newest firmware).

I don't want mirroring. How do I disable it? I couldn't find anything in the manual that I felt comfortable doing (I really don't want to loose my files on Disk 1 - the 2 TB disk).

always have backups

Drive 2 Stays, Drive 1 gets exchanged ... data on the current Drive 1 needs to be backuped in any case

I'm very sorry but I don't think I understand. How do I proceed? How do I make drive 2 backup the content of drive 1 automatically?

as I already said ...Drive2 seems to be a RAID1 member disk that is missing its counterpart

if you still dont get it, contact qnap via support ticket..they might be able to help a technically challanged user via remote support

You can't undo a mirror without starting over from scratch.
