Max volume on TS-431P + TS-853A-4G ?

Post by DafOwen »

Can't find a definitive answer to what should be a simple question......

I'm guessing:

TS-431P = 16Tb ? I think it's a 32-bit processor but not sure.

TS-853A-4G = 250Tb ?

Looking to put 8Tb drives in RAID-5

TIA

(Don't have them yet - am looking to buy and doing my research first)

the x31 units apparently support volumes over 16TB but not expansion...so you have to be over 16TB to start with

intel/amd units do not have this limitation (just make sure the node size is not too small)

Hmm curious one - I'v seen it mentioned (with other models) that the max volume should be mentioned in the notes in Compatability list.
(https://www.qnap.com/en-us/compatibilit ... category=1)

Checking the Toshiba 8 Tb disks I was considering I only got:
As suggested by certain hard disk drive providers, the hard disk drives of the same brand and series are collectively recognized as compatible with QNAP products if the largest-capacity drive has passed the compatibility test.
i.e. nothing about a max volume.

HOWEVER Checking the HGST HUH728080ALE604 8Tb drive it says:
The maximum size for a single volume is 16TB. Please create multiple volumes.
But it's only mentioned with this one disk - none of the other 8 or 10 Tb disks

So still not certain.
I've emailed QNAP but awaiting response.

Edit : A few of the 6Tb disks mention "The maximum size for a single volume is 16TB. Please create multiple volumes." but certainly not all of them.
