Hi,
I am running a QNAP TS-253A on 4.3.3
I set my system up as RAID1 (2X4TB WD Red) with one storage pool and 2 thin volumes (for flexibility in resizing the 2 volumes later).
One of the volumes was set up too large for the available space and I'd like to 'shrink' it, I figure from reading the forum that there may not be an option to directly do that. Can someone tell me the best way to achieve the same result? Create a new volume and move the shares doesn't move the snapshots. I would like to keep the exact content of the existing volume, including the snapshots.
cheers

Explain how a thin volume can be too large?
Thin volumes use space as needed, they do not deduct from the pool until space actually occupied with data.

Re: move a volume including snapshots
Allocated too large,I guess it is just annoying to see the oversubscription and the percentages etc. to not reflect the actual storage pool space. I agree that technically it probably doesn't matter but it would be nice anyway to:
A: be able to shrink a thin volume
B: Move / duplicate an entire volume to a other volume including all its snapshots.

Re: move a volume including snapshots
If you want to shrink the system vol you need to reinstall apps and defaults shares.
Other volumes are easier to shrink, just create another vol and sync everything to it.
Read here about restoring shares

You can't easily
Have a look at the clone option.
