Separate Drive Systems

Post by ThePostman »

I just bought a TS-873 and installed 7 4tb Ironwolf HD’s running raid5....can I install another drive but keep it as a separate drive for storing security camera video instead of adding it to my raid array ? Thanks !

you can..but add the disk to the raid instead and store it to the array

I strongly suggest adding another drive and migrating from RAID5 to RAID6. Seven drives in RAID5 is just asking for disaster.
