Problems with 2 out of 4 bays with TS-469 Pro

Post by kaika313 »

Hi,

suddenly I'm encountering a strange issue...
I have a TS-469 Pro, with fw 4.3.4.1129 and 4 2TB disks: 2 x Seagate ST2000VN000-1H3164 SC42 and 2 x Seagate ST2000VN004-2E4164 SC60. Yesterday I was not able to access my data anymore so I connected to the web interface and noticed that in Storage Manager, under disk 3 and disk 4 it was written: “Disk does not exist”.

Error log lists this messages:

Information 2019-11-19 20:01:46 System 127.0.0.1 localhost Host: Disk 4 Disabled NCQ since timeout error.
Information 2019-11-19 20:01:47 System 127.0.0.1 localhost Host: Disk 3 Disabled NCQ since timeout error.
Error 2019-11-19 20:02:11 System 127.0.0.1 localhost Hot-remove Host: Disk 4 failed.
Warning 2019-11-19 20:02:15 System 127.0.0.1 localhost [Pool 1] RAID Group 1 is in Degraded mode.
Error 2019-11-19 20:02:19 System 127.0.0.1 localhost Host: Disk 4 unplugged.
Information 2019-11-19 20:02:24 System 127.0.0.1 localhost Host: Disk 3 Device removed successfully.
Warning 2019-11-19 20:02:28 System 127.0.0.1 localhost [Pool 1] RAID Group 1 is in Degraded mode.
Error 2019-11-19 20:02:32 System 127.0.0.1 localhost Host: Disk 3 unplugged.

Is it possible that suddenly, without any warning, two of the four slots broke? My problem is that in two of the disks is installed the system and in the other two are stored all my data. Is there any diagnostic procedure that could confirm that the 3rd and 4th slot are broken? Is there something I could try to do to fix them?

Thank you

Try shutting down and powering off. Pull the drives and reseat them. Power back on and boot. See if that works.
Use the forum search feature before posting.

Use RAID and external backups. RAID will protect you from disk failure, keep your system running, and data accessible while the disk is replaced, and the RAID rebuilt. Backups will allow you to recover data that is lost or corrupted, or from system failure. One does not replace the other.

Already done, not working!
Any disk in 3 and 4 is not detected.

Check all internal cable connections.

Hi, at the end my QNAP started to work again!

This is what I'v done:
- re-opened it and checked and cleaned carefully all connections with proper cleaning product
- waited about an hour so that the cleaning product was fully evaporated
- re-seated all connections and disks
- I've noticed that every time I turned on the NAS it tried to install and update some apps including Qboost so I reconnected it to Internet and waited for these apps to update.
-using SSH I gave this command to sdc and sdd which values were 1:
echo 31 > /sys/block/sdx/device/queue_depth
-after all these steps it finally read all 4 disks and obviously I did a full check of them

Thank you for your suggestions and support!
