QNAP doing reverse DNS PRT Lookups

Post by cbehrent »

I am having some issues with my QNAP apps since a recent firmware update which still isnt resolved, says the "Page not found or the web server is currently unavailable"

I was looking at my Pi Hole (running on a RPi) recently and see the QNAP NAS is making ALOT of DNS PTR requests across my network and am now wondering if thats causing my app issues. The NAS is the top client for doing DNS queries.

Why would the NAS being doing these requests and how can I resolve it remembering my 'Network & Virtual Switch' app as it has the above issue also.

Thanks

Mine is also running excessive internal dns lookups. It is iterating through all possible IP ranges as if someone ran a scan against 128.0.0.0/1

Are you using using the Security Counselor app? It seems to do a few scans.
