Migrate/combine two RIAD-1 to 5

Post by pavelh »

Folks, for most of you certainly a far to basic question.

I got two RIAD-1 volumes on the same QNAP (4-bay) box, each RIAD-1 consists of two disks of the same size (= in total 4 disks of the same size). Both RIAD-1 volumes contain different data.
I'd like to merge/migrate those two RIAD-1 volumes to one combined RIAD 5 without moving/loosing any data.

Can I just merge those two RIAD-1 volumes to an aggregated RIAD-5, while keeping data?

What would be the most intelligent way of getting it all to a RIAD-5?
(All 4 disks are NAS HDDs ;-) to spare you this question).

Thank you for any hint and experience.

Not possible to combine them..you need to delete one volume join the disks to the raid1 into a raid5 and restore the data from your external backups.

The data on the remaining raid1 should remain ..but things can always fail..so test your backups in any case
