TS-453A New disk replacement ++
Currently i have 4 * 2TB disks in a raid5 configuration and 1 now legacy volume on my 3 years old TS-453A, a setup upgraded, but unchanged, several times over the last 12 years since my first TS-419.
I have ordered 4 new 10tb WD Red Pro and plan to expand my nas. The question is: Can i just replace one by one and then create a new (more up to date) volume and then move my files from the legacy volume and then delete it ???
I am on firmware 4.3.6.

no..legacy volumes have a 16TB limit ..you will have to start the volume from scratch

Hmmmm .... thank you dolbyman..
Was afraid of that ... but ok, i have backup on USB of files and settings - so can be done.
But .. I still have my old (very old) TS-419, wonder if i can mount the old disk there and then restore after creating the new volumes on my TS-453.....maybe

Thank you again for your answers dolbyman
Somewhere in here i read, that systems who support storage pools do not have the 16TB limit ... as i understand does my 453A support that ??

Re: TS-453A New disk replacement ++
Then.... sorry to ask a lot but.. does that mean that my first suggestion .. replace disks one by one, create new volumes or storage pools, move data and then delete legacy volume, would be a valid way to go ?? ... or will my legacy volume stand in the way anyway ?

Re: TS-453A New disk replacement ++
the system would have to be moved(hidden on the legacy volume).so a clean start is better

Hey again
Did a clean start with new disks today ........ What a f...king nightmare .... HBS 3 backup nearly no use, cannot restore because backup never run can only restore one folder by one ... container station cannot start because it cannot create interface "docker0" .....

Re: TS-453A New disk replacement ++
it ran ... i even did just before..
but i think its because i reset all ... then the HBS don't know, and then say "never run" .. but of course it did.

if it's a plain file backup, you can just copy from external to internal
or did you do versioned or dedup backups?
