Firmware or other settings

Post by go5star »

This may seem like a dumb question but I searched the forum and can't seem to find it. How is it that the QNAP boxes are so easily found by malicious people? Does the server somehow advertise itself as a QNAP that can be scanned? How are they finding our servers? Is it something we can turn off?

The whole internet is constantly scanned for open or available services

The attackers either scan themselves (botnets or rented services) or use services like shodan.io

They probably have a full backdoor key into myQNAPcloud.

doubt it .. if that was the case, more QNAP DDNS users would be hit. Not just a couple of 1000 (according to the ballpark based on wallet payments)
