Adding hard drive to TS431

Post by part deux »

This is my backup server, and originally put together with what ever drives were laying around
Disk 1 - 3T
Disk 2 - 4T
Disk 3 - 6T

Raid 0

I'm replacing the drives in my main server, and planned on adding two 6TB, only added one for right now, due to new drive failure in my main server.

In any case, I can't seem to get TS431 to accept the drive. My only option is create and add new raid group.

How do I get the TS431 to accept the 6TB drive in slot 4? It's status is "good". Once I get a replacement for the bad drive, how do "unload" disk 1 or disk 2, which should give me 3 6T drives.

if those 3 drives were added in raid0, effectively you should have 9TB (*0.9) (losing 1 and 3TB)

So if they are raid0..only way to expand is a complete start from scratch (you cannot add drives to a raid0) ..adding a single drive would be the only option (x31 does not support pools either)

thank you...

Guess I'll wait until I get the bad drive replaced, that will give me three 6TB drives, which should be enough for raid 5,
