iSCSI CHAP Password lost/corrupt after 4.5.4.1715 update

Post by gribnut »

Was unable to login/authenticate to my QNAP iSCSI target after updating firmware to 4.5.4.1715:
Jul 2 10:13:32 ****** iscsiadm[1909]: iscsiadm: Could not login to [iface: default, target: ******, portal: x.x.x.x,3260].
Jul 2 10:13:32 ****** iscsiadm[1909]: iscsiadm: initiator reported error (24 - iSCSI login failed due to authorization failure)

Resetting CHAP password on QNAP iSCSI target properties resolved. Appears the firmware update caused the previous CHAP password value to be lost or corrupted it.

Got the same issue! I made a bit of debugging here:

viewtopic.php?f=180&t=161992

It looks to me like the whole configuration file is gone...

Edit:

Or another option is that iscsid is patched to read directly the other configuration files and it breaks there.

After upgrading to 4.5.4.1715 the win10 event manager reported an authetication issue when connecting to the target. In my case the reason was a change in password policy at NAs side. Some month age i had created a chap passwort including capital letters, lower case letters, numbers and special characters as well. Connections worked fine so far. Since 4.5.4.1715 update special characters a no longer allowed. i had to remove special characters from the chap password.
