JBOD Disk Migration

Post by crazydv8er »

Last week my TS-251+ died. I have a new TS-873A. Both the old and new systems are set up at JBOD (each disk is its own volume). I did the migration compatibility guide and checklist and everything should work (both were on the latest QTS firmware, etc.). I inserted what was Disk 2 of the old NAS into the 8th (last bay) of the new NAS, and the drive is recognized and in good health, but I don't see any options to initialize the disk so I can see the data. Is there something I am missing?

I do have all the data already backed up elsewhere, but I figured plugging it directly into the new NAS and copying it this way would be quickest.

Side Note: Please, no "lectures" or criticisms on using JBOD as opposed to a RAID configuration. This is just my preference on how to do things on my home network, and all my data from all of my NAS devices are backed up in multiple places anyway.

All positive/helpful suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

JBOD would be spanning ...so just say single disks

how does the drive show up in the disk manager? ..i there a "recover" option?

as the nas works with shares..did you recreate the share and manually point it to the disk?
