Seagate Expansion 14TB External HDD(STKP14000402)

Post by enyartd »

I have this drive attached to a TS-451 with FW 4.5.4.1723.
Currently it is formatted NTFS from a windows 10 computer.

When I plug the drive in the NAS recognizes it, mounts it, and shows the size and even the volume name. ->screenshot9.jpg
Unfortunately that is as far as it will go. I am unable to browse it with file station. ->screenshot10.jpg
It does show up under Storage & Snapshots under External storage. -> see screenshot8.jpg

I am looking for any help to try and use this drive.
It is going to be used as an external backup.

Thank you!

What about scrolling to the bottom of that list in file station? .. I don't have qsync installed, so I don't know if it would show up before external drives

Then it might be time for a ticket with QNAP

Got a response from support!
So the fix was going to Control Panel ->Shared Folders->Edit Shared Folder Permissions. Then give my new administrator account r/w permissions.
I had the default admin account disabled, and had created a new administrator account(per QNAP's many suggestive popups). Apparently we may still have to enable the admin account from time to time or go through some weird steps to make some things work.

ohhh.. yeah I ignore that ... disabling the default admin is just smoke and mirrors .. not useful in your private network and not a deterrent if your NAS is web exposed (exploits are used) .. same goes for 2FA
