A 20 TB of free space suddenly available?

Post by andreasgerd »

Hello there. I got QNAP TS-EC2480U.
I've 24x8GB SATA disks installed into my NAS system. Till now, I was having about 12 TB of free space. Since yesterday, I have now 32 TB of free space.
How can this be?
My System Access Logs was not enabled, I just turned it on. But of course, no log information regarding the issue.

How can I learn, from where such a huge free space came? What was deleted? Is it possible to diagnose that further on the system? Is it possible to check for such activity within the system logs (terminal/ssh)?

Note: I have tons of folders, it'd take huge time to check one-by-one to see if anything is lost. Just wanted to know if there's a quick way to see what actually has happened.

Any idea much appreciated.

Best,
Andreas.
