[HELP] Shrinking datavol with system stuck at 52.7% for more than a hour (SOLVED)

Post by ApolloPT »

Hello,

I have a QNAP in a production site, that while shrinking a volume (with ~7TB free space) from 9.7TB to 9.1TB, got stuck at 52.7%, and I am pretty worried right now, because this volume contains system apps and all the data related with this QNAP, that mess with the all system.

I have a backup of settings, but there is one folder that I didnt backup from today state.

From process's, seems like its still running, but there is no progress, at all:

http://prntscr.com/1sztw7z

Any of you have already encounter such issue? Is there a way to stop the process without damaging this volume?

Thanks in advance!

Please always upload screenshots to the forum , don;t link to 3rd party sites

Resizing volumes can go south, that's why current external backups are extremely important before attempting such procedure.

If it is stuck for longer, you can attempt a reboot and see if it comes back (finished or failed)

If it fails, can I loss the volume?

I've found a way to check if its being done or not, and seems that its being still done, but the progress % doenst move.

Through unallocated space, I notice that its increasing, in space pool!

It took 5 hours to shrink ~700GB, but at least it was done. Must of the time was stuck at 52,7%.
