The storage pool expanded, appropriately, but it turns out the
volume expansion was my missing step.
In my case, I needed to also reboot the NAS to allow the system to perform FS checks and resolve an "abnormal state" message I received when attempting to expand the volume. After restarting the NAS, the volume expansion went off without a hitch:
- Expand the storage pool under Storage/Snapshots
- Select the volume and click Manage
- Click Resize Volume at the top of the window
- Set the New Capacity to desired amount below maximum
- Apply changes and wait for synchronization to complete
Thanks for pointing this out. Hopefully this time I will process the fact that there are
three layers to consider when expanding storage capacity: (1) disks, (2) pools, and (3) volumes
