[Solved] TS-639 did not rebuild after hotswap

Post by MaddoScientisto »

I've been searching for a while on the forum but I can't really find a thread with the same problem, so here I am:

Earlier today drive 4 was detected as faulty so I hotswapped it with a new one, except the rebuild never started, the volume is still in degraded mode.
I'm on firmware 4.2.6 for TS-639, the new drive is shown as GOOD in the list but the drive is still degraded.
What can I do to manually start a rebuild? Is there a log that can help to detect the issue?

I tried a few commands in the console but there's nothing I can discern from them:

Code: Select all

[~] # cat /sys/block/md0/md/sync_action
idle
[~] # cat /proc/mdstat
Personalities : [linear] [raid0] [raid1] [raid10] [raid6] [raid5] [raid4] [multipath]
md0 : active raid6 sda3[0] sdf3[5] sde3[4] sdc3[2] sdb3[1]
                 15621798400 blocks level 6, 64k chunk, algorithm 2 [6/5] [UUU_UU]

md6 : active raid1 sdf2[6](S) sde2[5](S) sdc2[3](S) sdb2[2] sda2[0]
                 530128 blocks super 1.0 [2/2] [UU]

md13 : active raid1 sda4[0] sde4[4] sdf4[3] sdc4[2] sdb4[1]
                 458880 blocks [6/5] [UUUUU_]
                 bitmap: 3/57 pages [12KB], 4KB chunk

md9 : active raid1 sda1[0] sdf1[5] sde1[4] sdc1[2] sdb1[1]
                 530048 blocks [6/5] [UUU_UU]
                 bitmap: 24/65 pages [96KB], 4KB chunk

unused devices: <none>

I tried a reboot after swapping and seeing that the rebuild wasn't starting, nothing happened.
Are you suggesting I should take out the drive, reboot, and then insert it?

Ok I didn't need to do that, apparently I thought the system rebooted but instead it took a long time to even start rebooting, after it finally came back online the rebuild started, very bizarrre.
I guess the problem is solved now, thanks
