SMART Rapid test taking hours for one disk

Post by smeijer »

Hi,

I have a TS.412 with 4 disks in a RAID 5 setup. A SMART Rapid test for disks 1,2 and 4 always takes about 2 minutes. For disk 3 this lies between 2 minutes and 11 hours. Nothing special is running during the Rapid Test (in fact it starts at 02:00 when nothing is running at all). The test finishes successfully without any errors or warnings.

I noticed that the SMART values of disk 3 is quite different than for disks 1, 2 and 4. Have attached screenshots of disk 3 and 1 (disk 2 and 4 look similar as 1).

disk3 (1280x634).jpg
The disks are all "certified" (in the compatibility list). Are those different values (and different IDs) coming from the fact that the model/brand are different or might something else be the issue.

Can someone clarify why the Rapid Test is running so long?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Hi,
i've the same problem with a NAS TS-231+ (FW 4.3.2.0050 , 2017/01/04).
The system consists of two mirrored WD Green 3GB HDD (WD30ZEZRX, FW: 80.00A80).
As you can see in the attached photo the "rapid test" and "complete test" sometimes last very long.
Can somebody tell me why?

best regards,
Josef

WD Green drives are not NAS compatible and should be replaced.
