Hi everyone
Im new to the forum and the Qnap world so I'm trying to learn what all is going on with my system.
Today my Thunderbolt connection did not connect but yet my shared folders still mounted on my Mac mini.
I shut down everything and retired and it finally connected but it hasn't done this and I've only been using this setup for about a week now.
Should I be using a static IP in Mac OS for then as on TB or let it use DHCP?
My ethernet connected to the Qnap is static.
Im running the latest OS 12.5 on latest Mac mini- Qnap 4.5.4
thanks
Matt

Re: Thunderbolt connection TVS-672xt Static or DHCP?
I don't know anything about TB, but, I'm a big proponent of using static IP addresses for *any* server-like device. It makes access a lot easier and resolves many problems (or avoids them altogether).
I always take it one step further when possible. In addition to configuring my devices with static IP addresses, I also set a DHCP reservation in my router with the same information so that if the NAS, server, etc gets reset for any reason and defaults back to DHCP, then it is assigned the same address that I expect it to have.
Just my opinion.

Hey that sounds like a nice back up plan -but I’m not sure how you do something like that with Google WiFi routers.
Thanks for the advice
