Potentially lost some folders from the /share/MD0_DATA volume

Post by hpijnacker »

I am running QTS 4.2. I am not sure what has happened but my WEB folder has disappeared including folders I had acces to from remote. I logged in via SSH and run the code from Patrick, the result is below. My question is: Has mu WEB folder and all contents disappeared, or can it be retrieved. Would be very happy if anybody can help me out here?

cd $(testparm -s -l --section-name=Public --parameter-name=path 2>/dev/null)

Start with a file system check on the volume.

Get in touch with the QNAP Customer Service for further assistance -> https://helpdesk.qnap.com/

Be prepared restoring data from backup might be required.

Thank you,
File system checked with no results (i assume that is ok then).
I see the WEB folder under Shared Folders but 0 size/folders/files.
Under File station I see the WEB folder but selecting it returns: The File or folder does not exist.

I have contacted the helpdesk and waiting for them to repond.
In de mean time a question, would "restore default shared folders" under "Shared Folders" help in this case and potentially restore the links if the files/data is still on the machine, or would this only harm a possible restoring process?
Thanks for your comment/help

Are you able to recall what happend?
Deleting the share Web is not possible by control-panel>shared folders>Web
However, when you go to Filestation>Web, all files are slectable, and therefore easy to delete.

Do you have a $Recycle in the web-dir.
A $recycle is a directory that got created when you delete files. This directory, however, must be enabled.
Your files will be stored over there, until you delete that $recycle.

Now this is what happened I think: I wanted to create a new subfolder (Called AITEMCRM) in shared folder WEB for a new CRM software. After creating it as a shared folder (with path WEB to have it sit under WEB), it did not "sit" under WEB so I deleted the Newly Created subfolder AITEMCRM. The result was that after rebooting the NAS, the WEB folder was empty (in Control Panel=>Privilege Settings=>Shared Folders) , in File station de WEB folder is still visable but after clicking on it the system message displays: The file or folder does not exist.

Since I can not get in the WEB Folder (does not exist?) I can not see the $recycle in de WEB dir.
