Hi,
I want to replicate the time machine data to a second NAS.
Somehow, I cannot find the folder or any option to do this using the qnap webgui.
How can I achive this ?
I managed to replicate all fileshares and multimedia data to the external qnap.
THX

Re: replicate timemachine data to second NAS
Why Do you want to replicate it?
I think it has to be an image file because Timemachine is heavily using hardlinks in the backup.
You only have to point your Mac to a second Timemachine Volume and the Mac will automatically use it. The first hour the first NAS will be used and in the second hour the second NAS and then again the first NAS and so on.

Re: replicate timemachine data to second NAS
Hi,
Thanks for your Input.
However i want to replicate all data onto the second nas which is not on site (WAN link, lower Speed)
Additionally, I don ot want to make users change anything on the setup. Their devices point to one time machine.
Its simply a backup NAS on a remote facility.

Re: replicate timemachine data to second NAS
I have one TimeMachine backup on another NAS and there is a share called TimeMachineBackup and inside a file called <computername>.sparsebundle.
This has to be the file with the Backup.

Do you see a share for TimeMachine on your first QNAP? Is there also this sparsebundle file?bancha wrote:Is there a way to do this?
Then you can simply make a backup of this file to another QNAP.

No, I do not see any sparesbundle files on the qnap.
I am using the file station to look at the only datavolume on this qnap.

I found an older thread about his: viewtopic.php?t=77985bancha wrote:No, I do not see any sparesbundle files on the qnap.
Here is also something about it: https://superuser.com/questions/653496/ ... ine-volume
I hope this helps.
Here is a solution for the problem, but it is written in German: http://petranek.de/blog/?p=160.
Maybe it helps you too.

Re: replicate timemachine data to second NAS
With the second NAS easily reachable like on the local (W)LAN ... you might consider to set-up multiple Time Machine destinations. Time Machine will use both in a round-robin schedule (permitting both are available).

Did you read the thread? He already told that the other NAS is slower attached and he don't want it.schumaku wrote:Time Machine will use both in a round-robin schedule (permitting both are available).
