Apple and Windows File Sharing Strategies?
What options are there for sharing files between a PC and a Mac? I have the QNAP TS-451 to support several PCs and I am introducing a Mac to my home. I understand I cannot directly write to a file system formatted for PC from a Mac. What options are there? If I wanted to work with a single project on both the Mac and PC what options do I have? I know this forum covers very specific implantations but I am looking for a big picture.

If you use a QNAP, the file system does not matter, as it is file and not block storage
All machines can use SMB protocol

I agree with dolbyman. Just mount the directory on the Windows machine and on the Mac. I have both and that is what I do. The QNAP is handling the file access i.e. the block reads and writes. In either system you will be able to drag and drop files from the PC to the QNAP or vice versa. The same will be true on the MAc.
