CCC 6.0 issues

Post by bokr71 »

Hi,

This is just an FYI. I just upgraded to CCC 6.0, and my CCC clones from NAS to external HDD started failing.

It turns out that some of the files in an OSX Installer IMG, causes this issue. But only when using the SMB protocol, not when using AFP.

This from CCC:

The poor result comes from how these files are initially presented (by the NAS server software) to any application that enumerates these folders. Initially these symbolic links are presented as regular files, so any application that takes that at face value and treats them like regular files is going to get the wrong result. Ideally the NAS vendors (QNAP in your case) would resolve this on the server side, but I'm convinced that I can find a way to work around this. As much as I dislike adding logic to work around someone else's problems, that typically gets the problem resolved sooner than waiting for another software developer, especially from a large company.

I don't think this fix will make it into the 6.0.1 release (I'm trying to get that out by Wednesday), but it's at the top of the schedule for the 6.0.2 update, and I'll let you know as soon as I have something to test.

Anyways - just an FYI.
