Resource Monitor shows both TMBackup and TimeMachine using the exact same storage footprint on my TS-459 (4.2.6 Build 2011215). See picture below.
Here are my settings for the the target mac in System Preferences:
When mounted the shares look like this on the target mac:
//TimeMachine@QNAP-NAS%28TimeMachine%29._afpovertcp._tcp.local./TMBackup on /Volumes/.timemachine/QNAP-NAS(TimeMachine)._afpovertcp._tcp.local./F2A79AC8-2851-434B-B4BE-24744133914F/TMBackup (afpfs, nobrowse)
/dev/disk2s2 on /Volumes/Time Machine Backups (hfs, local, nodev, nosuid, journaled, nobrowse)
Any ideas why this is happening? Can I delete one of these? Which one?
Thanks!
Joe

Re: TimeMachine and Disk Usage Question
Let me answer my own question here. There is no duplicate storage here just duplicate reporting. Here's a directory listing for the the /share directory:
[/] # cd /share
[/share] # ls
Download@ HDM_DATA/ HDZ_DATA/
HDA_DATA/ HDN_DATA/ MD0_DATA/
HDB_DATA/ HDO_DATA/ Multimedia@
HDC_DATA/ HDP_DATA/ Network Recycle Bin 1@
HDD_DATA/ HDQ_DATA/ Public@
HDE_DATA/ HDR_DATA/ Recordings@
HDF_DATA/ HDS_DATA/ TMBackup@
HDG_DATA/ HDT_DATA/ TimeMachine@
HDH_DATA/ HDU_DATA/ USBDisk1@
HDI_DATA/ HDV_DATA/ Usb@
HDJ_DATA/ HDW_DATA/ Web@
HDK_DATA/ HDX_DATA/ external/
HDL_DATA/ HDY_DATA/ homes@
[/share] # ls -l TMBackup
lrwxrwxrwx 1 admin administ 21 Mar 25 13:20 TMBackup -> MD0_DATA/.timemachine/
[/share] # ls -l TimeMachine
lrwxrwxrwx 1 admin administ 21 Mar 25 13:20 TimeMachine -> MD0_DATA/.timemachine/
[/share] #
Notice that both TMBackup and TimeMachine both point to the same "volume".

Re: TimeMachine and Disk Usage Question
Good you found that.
Just in case, here's a tutorial on how to set up a space on your NAS for Time Machine: https://www.qnap.com/en/how-to/tutorial ... -via-smb-3
Note the usage of a shared folder, which appears to be crucial for preventing potential hiccups later.
