Alerts question

Post by usamartinez » Fri Jan 13, 2023 4:35 am

Hi
I am not sure if my question belongs here, I think is related.
I have been receiving the following alerts for a while:

"[Security] Added IP address '176.111.173.164" to IP block list. Duration: for 5 minutes]"

I have read some posts that explain in detail how to secure the NAS and that is great, however, I am retired, old and do not have the knowledge to follow those instructions.
So my question is how to stop these alerts that have nothing to do with my local network, or perhaps they related, but I don't want to see them when I login to my QNAP.
Is there a simple way to stop receiving those alerts in my QNAP?
Thank You
Mario

These alerts mean your NAS is exposed to WAN and is getting attacked by bots

If you have no idea what to do, get the help of some professional asap, many many people have lost their NAS files to ransomware, do exactly what you do (exposing the NAS to WAN)

Until you can get someone to disable UPNP on your router, I would strongly suggest you shut down your NAS. As pointed out, bot attacks are already happening and it is only a matter of time before something in your network gets compromised.

I found how to stop the allerts, for anyone searching for the same issue, this will not protect your nas, the only thing it will do is top the allerts.
Install the QNAP Firewall and select the local network.

WHAT???!?!

Your solution is to stop the alerts? Get the flipping NAS out of the flipping WAN!
Or do you remove the batteries from your smoke alarm when your house is on fire, because the noise kills your zen?
