I've not been able to find anything on how to do this....
1. I have Private Internet Access as my vpn on my laptop
2. When I'm not connected to the LAN, I want to connect to my QNAP NAS using myqnapcloud connect.
Sorry, but I'm clueless on how to set this up on the myqnapcloud connect??
I want to be able to connect to my NAS over the internet with my Windows 10 laptop to download/upload files.
Thanks!

Re: How to setup myqnapcloud connect?
afaik,
on the qnap qts you need to enable QVPN server.
next, with qnapcloud connect client (which you can install on your pc), you then connect to the qnap qvpn server.
There is a newer QVPN Device Client (not out yet) that i suspect may replace qnapcloud connect (as it will support qbelt the new vpn protocol introduced in qts 4.3.5)
however the mobile app is available atm (if you want to try out qbelt)
https://www.qnap.com/en/mobile-apps/
anyway there is a guide here
http://richiepham.com/setting-up-vpn-co ... -qnap-nas/
https://www.qnap.com/en/how-to/tutorial ... -qvpn-2-0/
i don't recommend pptp
you can also provide your qnap the free dyndns via myqnapcloud as well
https://www.qnap.com/en/how-to/tutorial ... d-service/
by the way it would help to know which qnap and qts you are using. hard to troubleshoot otherwise

As a bonus for Windows users, you can head over to the QNAP Utilities page and download myQNAPcloud Connect, which is a desktop application that makes setting up VPN easier and, after connecting, provides a GUI where you can launch NAS apps like File Station, browse network folders on the NAS, and map network drives. myQNAPcloud Connect saves the VPN connections to Windows, so you would see them just as if you had set them up via Windows itself.

Re: How to setup myqnapcloud connect?
i didn't really have an opportunity to test qvpn working or not because it won't work in the same lan.
https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/ ... he-network
nat loopback only seems to work for testing the myqnapcloud url works. but for vpn, seems like outside network is required to test it working or not.
anyway next time i'm on holiday i will give it a try. but i think for me qvpn qbelt will work, because when i added it to android, it correctly detects the PIA switzerland IP, and also shows a latency ping.
https://www.snbforums.com/threads/howto ... lan.12961/VPN won't work from within your network. I use an iPhone/Android as a hotspot to test vpn.

a bit of a hassleThe NAT loopback might have trouble dealing with a VPN tunnel. Best way to test it is definitely from outside your network.
If you don't mind reconfiguring your network, you could also unplug the modem, plug a computer in its place, set the router WAN to a static IP (192.168.64.1) and the computer on 192.168.64.2, and try connecting to the VPN using the .1 IP.

Re: How to setup myqnapcloud connect?
Thanks for the help, but I'm still stuck....
I set up the QVPN service on the NAS.
I'm trying to connect to the NAS remotely from my laptop using myQNAPcloud Connect.
I'm able to connect up to a point ... in fact the Connection Logs on the NAS show that I'm logged in ....
However, after the initial connection, a Login window comes up. I enter my login info, it says "Authenticating" and then the same Login window pops up. See the screen below. I'm not able to access any of the files on the NAS.
How do I get past this login window? Thanks!

I'm using the same VPN and had the same issue. Please see my solution here.

You will have to go into the settings and manually put in your ISPs IP address instead of letting it auto update with the VPN IP.

Re: How to setup myqnapcloud connect?
Thanks. I don't see where I need to manually change the address. It seems to be using the ISP's address and not the VPN's for the NAS side. But now I cannot connect at all.
I can connect using the xxx.myqnapcloud.com thru a browser, so I guess that will have to do.

Open the myQNAPcloud app and click MY DDNS on the left. You'll see a blue link on that page that says manually update your IP address.

Re: How to setup myqnapcloud connect?
Thanks for replying. The app shows the correct IP address configured automatically. For kicks, I went ahead and configured it manually to the same address. Then I tried connecting via the laptop using the Connect App. It connects, but comes up with the login screen as before.
