Ok...QVPN is set on UPD 443.

My HTTTP system port is 8080 and the HTTPS is 443. Should I not open those as well?

Then I opened port 80 and 8081 only because I see them in the little popup I get when I click on the red X next to Web Connectivity (and port 8081 is still marked as red X even if in router is open...)

So what should I close in the router for the QVPN and access from the internet that I intend to do?

Thanks.

That depends. What NAS services do you want the Internet to see - without first connecting via your VPN?

I'm referring to incoming unsolicited connections to services available on your WAN IP only. Not outgoing connections from the NAS, and not services you'll be accessing via your VPN. ;)

Well... I don't think of using nothin rather than connecting a sync app for synching a folder from my laptop with the nas (two-ways) when I travel, and then vpn and also access to the classic qnap web interface of the nas.

No ftp, no telnet, no mail server, no nothing else.

Thank you.

Really??
As I'm asked in QVPN menu to choose a port, I can decide a number I prefer, then open it in UDP on the router, and then each time I need to connect from the internet I just need to connect my VPN first, and that's it??

Just for clarification: connecting to my nas from the internet using a VPN is practically a 100% secure procedure?

Thank you.

Practically, yes.

Things are always secure, until they're not. ;)

Ok then..I'll try everything and see how it performs connecting from the various devices.

Thank you.

Uhm...but this is a hardware. Not a VPN :)

Or am I missing something?

It’s an example of something thought to be secure, but was then found not to be. ;)
