QBelt VPN - No app access

Post by msinghania »

I can connect my iPhone using QPVN Client to a QBelt VPN connection on my NAS but there is no App access. When I click on the NAS icon on the phone I see this message: 'Limited Access: This VPN connection failed to connect to the NAS Web port, and will only provide a VPN connection. Additional functionality is disabled'.
Any help to resolve this will be appreciated!

Pushing this topic up, since the problem still persists, maybe somebody has found a solution to it in the meantime.

Have you opened a call or tried one of the alternative options such as Wireguard or OpenVPN?

Did you ever figure this out?

I've attached two images. QBELT successfully connecting, just can't access QNAP NAS.

Thanks

You have to enable Secure NAS Web and set port forwarding for router.

Ive done port forwarding by following these guys: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ErfHkA2jYXI

But Im still getting a similar error which doesnt mention port forwarding - It says "Limited access. Established VPN connection; however, remote access to network device functions are restricted"

How do I enable "secure NAS" as mentioned in the previous post?

Thanks

I had the same issue with qvpn using qbelt protocol, in iOS 14. In Android had no problem, my Samsung conects to the VPN and can use the NAS apps. To solve it:
- go my NAS admin web portal
- open myQNAPcloud Link NAS app.
- At Router automatic configuration (if using a UPNP router) you can see that port 443 is used both for secure web NAS and QVPN(Qbelt). I had secure web NAS disabled, so I enabled it, apply changes and works like a charm.

Hope you'll find it useful too.

exposing you NAS QTS login is VERY dangerous and will probably get you hacked (https does nothing to protect it) .. so disable upnp on your router and never ever forward any ports to your NAS

use your router or a raspi(etc) as VPN server

This is quite an old thread, but I still see new posts coming in.
There are two parts to this:

Connecting via QBelt
Once the VPN server is setup, you need to change your router configuration to forward these two ports:
- The QBelt port you've configured
- Your NAS system system port (or ports if you want to use HTTPS). The ones in the Control Panel / General Settings page

App Access
To have app access in Qbelt you need to:
- Publish the services (apps) you want in the My Cloud Link app on you NAS
- Setup your VPN connection in QBelt using the "Import from QNAP ID option) in the My QNAP Cloud "tab"

However don't get your hopes up, because the app access via Qbelt is basically a shortcut to the MyQnapCloud site.
Personally I find it best to use the MyQNAPCloud site directly.
The only benefit you get in QBelt, on my view, if the facility to help access your network drives from you local file explorer.
But even that doesn't work all that well.
Hope the above helps.

PD) I apologize for not including any images, but the forum 1024 pixels limit made it difficult to find some

as said before, forwarding the NAS QTS port is a very bad idea and should not be neccessary for vpn acces (makes no sense if it would be)

maybe forget about the qnap vpn and put the server on a router or raspi
