MyQnapCloud Access denied to Webinterface of NAS

Post by Sandor123 »

Hi,

i activated mycnapcloud on my NAS (TS-253D 8GB) and I am able to access the files on my NAS via myqnapcloud.com from external. However, trying to access the web interface via myqnapcloud by clicking on the recktangle with the arrow on the left panel does result in a access denied error. It opens a new window and tries to connect to my NAS. After a couple of seconds it redirects to account.qnap.com saying

Code: Select all

Access denied
We cannot proceed your request, this might be the problem of the application you're using
Accessing the webinterface from internal does work properly. Access via QManager on Android and QSync on Windows do work from external. Is there any problem with the myqnapcloud link servers?

Best to disable this right away again ...check all the bruteforce attacks last week and exploits in the past (and probably future) ..

If you dont want to be a malware victim..dont expose your NAS to WAN

I deactivated the myddns service on the nas and set the qnapcloud access settings to private. So from my understanding the NAS should only be accessible by logging in to the myqnapcloud.com page and redirecting from there to my NAS. I have not set up any port forwarding in my router. That should help to not fall victing to those attacks?

check that upnp is disabled on your router (this can open ports without you knowing)

cloudlink tunnels via qnap servers and is different (but also slow and qnap could see all data transferred)

Yes, upnp is disabled.
I just tried accessing the webinterface of my NAS on a different computer and multiple browsers. I still keep receiving the Access denied errror.
Is there anything wrong with my NAS?

did you activate a whitelist ?

a 3 second reset should get rid of that

It's the default setting. I don't think I have set up a whitelist.
Where do I have to set up the 3 second reset?

If a whitelist was (in panic to 'mitigate' attacks) then many people forget to whitlist the LAN address range and lock themselves out

a 3 second reset is done with the recessed button on the back of the NAS

Oh no wait. I am not locked out. I can access the webinterface of the NAS in the LAN. But I cannot the webinterface via myqnapcloud from outside my LAN.
I am not at home currently and I wanted to check updates. But it keeps saying Access denied.

so it shouldn't say anything at all... if it says "access denied" you are still exposed

I am not quite sure if i got it right. When using mycloudlink without myddns and upnp I cannot access the webinterface when i am outside of my LAN. Not even via myqnapcloud? I can only access my files via myqnapcloud?

when upnp and manual portforward are disabled, direct access to the NAS is NOT possible (good)

only way to access the NAS then is

Cloudlink
VPN

You leave me puzzled. I think I activated cloudlink. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to use qsync? It's just that I cannot access the webinterface from external.

Only QNAP program I use is Qfile on my android (LAN/VPN only)

All the other stuff is done far better by other companies, so I have no idea what Qsync does or what connection methods it can use

Hi,

I've the same issue since this morning.

I'm serving three NAS devices for my customers (UPNP off and access is only private) and could access them always for management.
Since today, One NAS is not accessibele anymore for management. File access is posible.
Other NASes are accessibele and can be managed.

QNAP support tells me they needs the log files so they can help - but how to get them if manangement is not possible ... Duh ...???

Anyone any solution / advice???

Regards,
Jacques.
