QSync Application (macOS) can't work with non default https port (443)

Post by deryalex »

Hi all,
I still have the QNAP NAS issue with QNAP QSync connectivity last moth with new version of QNAP NAS QTS 4.5.4.1741 build 20210726 TS-453D.

As due the Security Counselor recommend change default HTTPS port I set NOT 443 - another one, for example 444.
After set and restarting NAS (recommendation) and my notebook (mac book) the NAS web UI, other services on NAS works perfect no issue.
But unfortunately QNAP QSYNC Client for Mac (last version 5.0.1.0802) broke own connector to NAS and reading application logs it still connect to port 443.
Restarting OS, Uninstalling and Installing QSync application on Mac OS Big Sur(last version) not works!
Option: auto connect and https protocol was set.
Connectior QSync show endless connection to NAS and status "connecting..."

Could you please help? How to fix? Any possibility to change setup in QSync to port, for example, 444?

P.S. I use QSync only for local sync and myQNAPCloud service is disabled

Please explain where/why you set ports if you use the program for local sync only

HTTPS port for NAS was set in General Parameters via Web UI NAS in administration tab.
After changing it on NOT EQUAL 443, the QSYNC Mac Application can't start synchronisation.
The reason of changing of default https port was described before - recommendation of Security Councelor NAS Application!

As I see QSYNC VERY buggy application that still have many issues:
- not work if default https port not 443 (detected by log that show connecting to default 443 although changed to another 444
- used a lot of memory and CPU on NAS and on my macOS (CPU during sync (if many files and subfolder) >=120-150%)
- if you paused and continued (or restart NAS or lost connection to NAS) some subfolder wan't to continue to sync and status of QSYN for parent folder show as synchronised!
- if you start sync 2 pair identical folders(1 on NAS and another on local PC), some files NAS detected as conflicted and renamed and copied(with postfix _conflicted) on local PC IGNORING option that I set replacing NAS files from local PC!

Planned to find alternative application for macOS that will sync folder more accurate and used shared folder
Any suggestion?

change it back to the default port (just ignore that security counselor stuff) or complain via ticket about a hardcoded port in qsync...qnap does not come here..so unless you talk to them..they will not know
