Acessing QNAP file system via Windows Explorer

Post by drgenius »

Hi folks,
I was able to configure the myQNAPcloud service and to access the file system of my QNAP NAS by using the file station. However, it would be more convenient to access the file system by using the Windows Explorer. Is this somehow possible? Maybe a stupid question but I'm just a beginner, not an expert in this area.
Thanks a lot for your comments...

Best to disable the qnap cloud stuff asap (unless you like to get hacked..and your files encrypted for ransom)

mounting network shares in windows is easily done

So, what you say is that the myQNAPcloud service is useless and even dangerous? Why that?
In which way else can I access my QNAP at home from other networks at all?

I would like to access my QNAP at home from foreign networks (e.g. the network at my work place). I don't see how I could do this by simply mounting a network share.

you fell for the easy private cloud promise..many have paid this mistake with data and tears..like this one

if you need to access your NAS from WAN, use a VPN (does not cost anything)

Probably, you're right.
I had so many problems accessing and working with the NAS, anyway. Mostly, I got time outs when trying to log on. It was pure accident whether logging on worked or not. Moreover, using the myQNAPcloud service remotely was so slow that I couldn't hardly work with it. In my opinion it's all but mature...
In the end, I have deactivated the myQNAPcloud service.

Will try it by using a VPN connection soon...

Thank you for your help, dolbyman.
