Can't access myQNAP cloud

Post by partrg »

Hey folks,

I can't access my xxxx.myqnapcloud.com and after reading some great info here I guess I've got some sort of port forwarding problem.

Using the "nslookup XxXxXxXxXxXxX.myqnapcloud.com" command gives me the following:

"DNS request timed out.
Timeout was 2 seconds.
Server: Unknown
Address 192.x.x.x.

Non-authorative answer:
DNS request timed out.
Timeout was 2 seconds.
Name: xxxx.myqnapcloud.com
Address: 124.x.x.x.x"

Using http://canyouseeme.org/ I can see that Ports 8080, 8081 and 443 are working, but not 22 or 80.

Everything seems to be looking ok (as far as I can tell!!) on the autorouter configuration page:
auto router.jpg
Anyone got any idea where I"m going wrong??

Many thanks

Have you checked with your ISP? My guess is that your ISP is "blocking" 22/TCP and 80/TCP, or your Router is using these ports itself.

Thanks. I was able to get Port 22 working by simply ticking the box within the 'Forward Services' of the auto router conf and then clicking 'apply to router', however Port 80 doesn't show up on this list.

I can access my qnap remotely via https://www.myqnapcloud.com/ but I guess this uses a different port than xxxxx.myqnapcloud.com?

On a potentially related matter, if I type the name of my qnap into a browser on my local network, it doesn't work - only if I put it https first. Is this correct?

Cheers

Yes that is correct.

You can reach the WebUI of your NAS at: https://xxxxx.myqnapcloud.com/ or http://xxxxx.myqnapcloud.com:8080/
You can reach the Web Server on your NAS at: https://xxxxx.myqnapcloud.com:8081/ or http://xxxxx.myqnapcloud.com/

The QNAP NAS Web Server (don't mix up with the QTS desktop or former NAS admin login) is by default on 80/TCP - according the screenshot you have re-configured the Web Server to 8082/TCP - that's why 80/TCP does not show up. Only services show up as configured on the NAS for the UPnP ARC - not random ports.

https://name/ does default to use 443 if no other port is specified - not 80.
