Today I updated my TVS-882 to 4.3.3.0096, and now I saw the GPU in the virtual machines. I don't have the chance to test it until now, but we will se wether it works fine.

I tried it and everything would work fine until booting into windows which the screen would turn black and not be on :/. In device manager there was a PCIE entry with a warning on it. Seems it still needs work in my opinion, but let me know if you happen to get it working 100%.

Interested in GPU passthrough as well (but on a TVS-463) - Anybody knows if that's something that could be coming to Virtualization Station?

Per contact at QNAP:
Unfortunately, GPU passthrough capability is defined by CPU makers and we cannot change it if the CPU and Linux driver do not support it.
It is NOT supported for the TVS-x73 family, and I would assume then it is likely not supported by the prior generation TVS-x63.

Sounds like you have an issue with video drivers not being installed in Windows. You might try booting into Windows VGA safe mode to see if you can get the drivers to install.

Not so sure it's impossible but as it's unavailable I have no choice but to believe it.

I needed hw acceleration for ffmpeg in a vm :-(

Looks possible using container station / linux station: viewtopic.php?t=129879 - Let me check that.

That is likely your best route right now.

I know this post is a bit dated now but after playing with the GPU options the last few days i experienced the same issue with a couple different nvidia cards. As it turns out they are not usable by virtualization station. Changing over to an R7-240 worked flawlessly though!

Thats a shame :( did you try 1050 gtx or the pascal cards? caused i thought some people on reddit said they could use it.
One problem you run into is nvidia blocks their drivers from working in VMs so you need to add a setting called: "hypervisor.cpuid.v0 = "FALSE"" to the VMs which have nvidia cards attached. But both my 750ti in my office and my 1050gtx work being passed through to a VM and run as if they were running on bare metal..
viewtopic.php?t=134606#p629117

did you try doing that setting to see if it helped get it to work.

no i did not. based on the links you posted i could see where folks were able to do that in vmware by editing the config files for the VM, but i didn't know if that corresponded to Virtual Station or not :(
