VM too slow after upgrade to 4.3.3

Post by frossie »

Hi all,
Yesterday i updated my Ts-251 with 8 Gb of ram to the last version of firmware.
Virtualization station was updated to 3.0 but my VM (windows server 2008r2) now is too slow..
I tried all (reinstalling guest drivers, changing cpu type and ram allocated...) but nothing...too slow than before..consider that i use a web application on this server but also in rdp the server is slow.
i see that with the firmware before the vm use all ram ever, in this release i see that the ram was released to the nas..(why ?)
Any suggestion ?

thank you .

Is the CPU busy doing something else?
I've had high CPU utilisation for a number of hours following the update. If the CPU cycles are being used by the NAS then obviously the VM's will be slow.
I have 2 Gig of memory set aside for each of my server VM's (2008R2) and if anything , they seem faster than before when on v4.2.4.

Hi, the cpu appears normal...but also in rdp all operations results too slow..i saw that the ram is not ever allocated to the vm but probably swapped to the disk; i don't know how, but in the version before 4.2.4 the ram was fully allocated to the vm .
I don't know which type of test i can do now...
Is there a way to force the qnap to use full ram and not swap to disk the memory of the vm ?

Ok..i deleted the image and i created a new vm using the same disk. I uninstall all qemu and red hat drivers.
Now it works fine..i hope definitely !

Sorry but i didn't solve my problem..The VM remain up but after a period that nobody are using it (during the night for instance) the next day come unresponsive. It seems that it release all ram and swapped to the disk ...It's an error or there's a method to force the vm to use all the assigned ram ?

TVS 1282 64G i7

VirtualizationStation 3
3.0.2819 (2017-10-08)

Same issue: after no activity on VM (E.G. after a nigth), VM became horrefully slow.

Initially I thought it was related to use of virtio drvers,.. But not sure .

I've no idea on how to investigate deeper.
