Ubuntu 18.04 VMs become unresponsive through QVS

Post by buiz_ »

I run two Ubuntu 18.04 VMs to serve as respectively torrent server and quasseldroid (irc) server. my NAP has 16gb and Intel i3 to plenty of juice to run both on top of the native NAS applications without problems. The VMs work well and reliably, however, I experience that after a while (days or weeks), they start to become very slow and eventually unresponsive in the GUI via QVS (ie the browser window that opens when clicking on the VM to access it). The applications still work, the VMs respond to ping etc, so it's just the GUI and actually using the VMs via the screen that stops working. Fixing the problem is usually a matter of force-shutdown and then start the VMs and then they become responsive in the GUI again for a while. I run Virtualization Station 3.4.4, but I have had the problem for a while and in previous versions too. My QNAP otherwise works super well, always responsive etc.

Any advice or solutions?
