Migration of Virtualisation Station

Post by adm1n »

Hello,

I am a newbie when it comes to QNAP. Just got me a TVS-472XT to replace my Promise Pegasuses.

Yet, I already learned that the virtualisation station is installed onto the selected drive/volume, and when I disable/remove the drive/volume, the virtualisation station is gone as well. Therefore my question: Is there a way to migrate the virtualisation station from one volume to another, either including the existing VMs or not? Also, seconds I had made Backups from my VMs before removing the virtualisation station. Yet, after installing the VS again, it was not possible to restore the existing backup, so maybe some kind of extra files are kept in the VS? I had expected I could deinstall and reinstall the VS and then also restore an existing backup from any location.

Your insights will be much appreciated!

Kind regards,
Olaf.
