I prefer to continue working with q server. is there a way to disable this reset feature? why is it resetting in the first place?

most likely the parameter you are using is not supported. QNAPs webserver is locked down.

Re: [TUTORIAL] How to edit your apache.conf file
just want to mention something. if q web server is locked down why do we have posts about changing configs? Unless I got something wrong, all this posts are misleading because you can't really change the config files in the end.

Re: [TUTORIAL] How to edit your apache.conf file
question you should be asking is yourself is, if you are trying to adjust qnaps built in apache, why havent QNAP stated you can do adjust everything including ALL apache supported parameters to the configuration.
Hense, if you want to more than the default QNAP Webserver, install something else. Qapache or Ningx

Re: [TUTORIAL] How to edit your apache.conf file
I hope you can see that your last post has nothing to do with what I've previously posted.
This post owner should state right at the first post that The qnap webserver config files cannot be amended.
In another note: If qnap doesn't want us changing the configs. they should improve the web server UI and give us the ability to create virtual hosts with advanced settings.

I don't know if you realise that this "post owner" started this thread over 8 years ago....presenceofmind wrote:I hope you can see that your last post has nothing to do with what I've previously posted.

Re: [TUTORIAL] How to edit your apache.conf file
Even if this is an older thread I don't like where it was going.
Fact is that QNAP has allowed changes to apache.conf for a long time (and for example when it broke that in 4.1 beta it reverted that)
So up until 4.2.x this all worked, and QNAP broke/disabled this with 4.3

Re: [TUTORIAL] How to edit your apache.conf file
I agree this is a stupid problem. I spent a whole week trying to enable server side includes, fiddling with apache.conf only to finally come here and realize what was wrong.
I followed QNAP's very own article https://www.qnap.com/en/how-to/faq/arti ... s-on-a-nas
and finally found out that apache-default-modules.conf was resetting itself and removing my changes.
Why does QNAP now use a locked down, handicapped apache installation, and force users to go out of their way to install a proper version of apache. This is demeaning and and makes us waste our time for no good reason.
Qnap - listen, and make this work properly again.

I disagree. Seeing as how up until very recently, the default installation of apache followed the norm and was perfectly configurable, the question should be:question you should be asking is yourself is, if you are trying to adjust qnaps built in apache, why havent QNAP stated you can do adjust everything including ALL apache supported parameters to the configuration.

Re: [TUTORIAL] How to edit your apache.conf file
As stated before the tutorial is 8 years old. even apache has moved on since then. QTS 4.2 and QTS 4.3 are different beasts.geefreck wrote:Why does QNAP now use a locked down, handicapped apache installation, and force users to go out of their way to install a proper version of apache. I suggest you contact QNAP directly via their ticket system with any requests for feature in the newer QTS 4.3.x firmware. https://helpdesk.qnap.com/index.php?/Tickets/Submit
I am now closing this thread since the OP is no longer valid for present day firmwares. (QTS 4.3.x and higher)
