MySQL server will not start after disk reconfiguration

Post by nintendoeats »

I have a TS-451D2.

I had everything set up, then decided that my disk configuration was suboptimal. I had 1 disk on its own, and 3 other disks in a RAID5. I cleared out the single disk and added it to the RAID5 array

3-days later

Ok, now everything works except the MySQL server. I don't care about the data that was on it, but I do need it to run. I found a few people online who had similar problems, but nothing that was directly applicable enough for it to be clear to me what the problem is.

phpmyadmin cannot access the server. netstat | grep 3306 pulls up nothing.

I tried updating the firmware hoping that would clear the issue, but to no avail. I tried re-initializing it (both in the GUI and using the shell script), nadda. I tried to manually start it, but it says that I don't have permission.

Below is my error log. Ir seems to be having issues locking files. I tried killing all MySQL processes, and restarting them, but again to no avail.

I could do this in a VM, but it would be nice to use the built-in server.

Thanks!

Hi there.

I'm just curious have you tried to reinitialize the database and/or resetting the root password from the GUI?

Since your model of NAS is fairly new have you updated to the latest version just released QTS 4.5.2.1605 build 20210312, since there maybe a known bug fix for this. failing that, you may need to raise a ticket with QNAP to help them understand what is going on with the SQL Service.
Regards Simon

Hi, thanks for the quick response.

I have reinitialized and reset the password using both the gui and the shell script (mysql_utilities.sh I think it's called). I suspect that the GUI is just calling the shell script, since they have the same options.

I was on the previous firmware when this problem started. I updated to 1605 last night and it didn't have any effect.
