Ok, so you need to run the

Code: Select all

mdadm --assemble --scan
again.

Strange. Best is may be to open a QNAP ticket, may the utage has caused some corruption.

mount it again and try if you can backup your files bia winscp directly from the mount

then rebuild the nas and directly create a backup strategy

WinSCP is a program for Windows OS. I don't have window OS.
The Web admin control service isn't corectly started.
An Nmap don't even display FTP open

Code: Select all

PORT STATE SERVICE
22/tcp open ssh
139/tcp open netbios-ssn
443/tcp open https
445/tcp open microsoft-ds
548/tcp open afp
631/tcp open ipp
873/tcp open rsync
3493/tcp open nut
8090/tcp open opsmessaging
49153/tcp open unknown
So i suppose WinSCP won't hit more than filezilla.

I'v try

Code: Select all

[~] # /etc/init.d/services.sh stop Default volume not found. Stop qpkg service: Default volume not found. .

Where could i find somes logs about why Qthttpd.sh is not correctly up ?

If i can't access data with SSH, I will not be able with WinSCP.
If I had access to my data with ssh, I would have use SCP directly to save them.

You never specified your computer OS, so WinSCP was a shot with a 95% success rate chance.

FTP,SMB,etc will only work if you have shares mounted, without shares nothing will show.

When the raid is mounted, the data (not the shares) should be under MD0_DATA or share/MD0_DATA (I don't have an old CAT1 on hand right now to check)

Without the default volume nothing will start.
If MD0 is found (by command from above), try if volume can be mounted manually.
Entry from mount command is as follows (TS-459 with QTS 4.2.6):

Code: Select all

[~] # mount
/proc on /proc type proc (rw)
none on /dev/pts type devpts (rw,gid=5,mode=620)
sysfs on /sys type sysfs (rw)
tmpfs on /tmp type tmpfs (rw,size=64M)
tmpfs on /dev/shm type tmpfs (rw)
tmpfs on /share type tmpfs (rw,size=16M)
none on /proc/bus/usb type usbfs (rw)
/dev/sda4 on /mnt/ext type ext3 (rw)
/dev/md9 on /mnt/HDA_ROOT type ext3 (rw,data=ordered)
/dev/md0 on /share/MD0_DATA type ext4 (rw,usrjquota=aquota.user,jqfmt=vfsv0,user_xattr,data=ordered,delalloc,noacl)
tmpfs on /mnt/rf/nd type tmpfs (rw,size=1m)
nfsd on /proc/fs/nfsd type nfsd (rw)

Wow.

Code: Select all

mount -t ext4 /dev/md0 ./MD0_DATA/
Heard disks scratch for minutes.... squeeze the buttocks...
Prompt return, here we are.
Image

MD0_DATA is mounted. Things strangely seems to be at right place, like an old temple reopen after aeon.

I haven't for the moment the right storage capacity to do backup of all this stuff.
So now that I have got my part of sweating, what do you recommend to save correctly my stuff ? Duplicate my raid system in multiples separate redundant hardware backup ?
Like having multiples NAS that sync themselves once a week and stay off rest of time ?
I was wondering to buy server bay with UPS, then buy 2 or 3 server for redundance. With three i can always have one off and totaly isolated.
Except in case of fire looks, like security. I was thinking my raid 10 was bulletproof until i had this probleme few months ago.
I would like to build a serious setup to realy never having this probleme anymore. Does the redundance hardwar of backup is the key ?

Thank both of you guys.

As CAT1 is limited to 16TB volumes, a (or several) sufficient large USB drive(s) should work for backups

You don;t need a server with a UPS, just a UPS connected to the NAS (all my NAS are connected to a UPS)

As already written above: neither a NAS nor a raid is a substitute for a backup.
At first you should buy an USB drive and connect to NAS for backup. An USB drive with 4, 8 or more TB is not so expensive nowadays.
This drive I would use for copying all important data.
A next solution could be to use a scondary NAS for an automatic backup (push or pull, whatever is preferred).
Anyhow a raid6 provides better security than a raid10 (IMHO). Both raids are surviving if two disks fail, but if in raid10 the "wrong" two disks fail, data is gone!

Also a raid prevents only redundancy for failed disks, if NAS is failing, raid is useless. And a NAS should be secured by an UPS to be protected against an power outage, as you just learned  .

"USB drive and connect to NAS for backup. An USB drive with 4, 8 or more TB is not so expensive nowadays."
Yeah that's what i'm seeing....

I think i will leave NAS world because i'v hated the fact that is not a 'real' computer with real OS.
Most of commands don't exist or are really limited on a NAS. And i don't like the way of thinking that all is managed by an webOs.... I don't use 10% of options, and when there is ** on fan, my ssh is poor...

I will build server with own OS and own control. I have to for many other project/idea, and I like the way of working with a nearly empty computer (ghostable in few minutes), so i'm gonna continue to learn about how store/manage correctly distant server.

In fact. To be as honest as I can, i was managing data from my NAS mounted on my desktop with CIFS. With daily habits, from the shell, forgotten i was on the nas, run as root an 'rm -rf ./*' at bad place, wondering why do so long time, heard my nas scratch, then "OH MY GOD ! i'm on the nas !" CTRL-C nothing to do.... jump on the back of the nas tear out power (that the part of 'power outage' i'v mentioned before). Then, nothing.
Realising i was storing 'personal' data as family picture, years of 3d modelling, etc... just on this same device than my stupid multimedia .mkv garbage. Both smocked up in few seconds by a succession of protocol violations.
So now, glad having my data back. Won't be catched twice. Will create differents user for differents level of access. Backup correctly. That lesson have learn me more than one rule i hope.

Must learn more ! Thanks a lot guys ! (Should i click somewhere to mark as resolved or an admin will ?)
