If an app requires 1.7, will it works only with 1.8 installed? or i need to have both installed and running?

both can be installed side by side ;)

it is not in NAS PATH, so no conflict, you need to export JAVA_HOME to right directory

I don't believe this package is running on my qnap - can you help me confirm and correct so I may use the wonderful subsonic package that you so kindly created after I requested.

just install it, and check is well on...

nothing to do...

QSubsonic use it automatically ...

QSubsonic use it automatically ...
it is installed, I don't believe that it is running based on the error that subsonic throws when trying to start.
./subsonic.sh: line 121: java: command not found

you mean it doesnt start autoatically from QTS ?

it is using port 4040 by default --> dont you have an application already using it ?

try /etc/init.d/QSubSonic.sh start instead

no issue here on several NAS.. x53, x51

/share/MD0_DATA/.qpkg/QSubSonic$ /etc/init.d/QSubSonic.sh start
Started Subsonic [PID 23188, /share/MD0_DATA/.qpkg/QSubSonic/subsonic_sh.log]

results in: ./subsonic.sh: line 121: java: command not found

I don't think its starting from package center.

can you check if in /opt you have well a QJDK8 symlink ?

with : " ll /opt"

that a bit weird..

/opt/QJDK8 must be a symlink pointing to your /share/MD0_DATA/.qpkg/QJDK8 path

in SSH doing a 'll /opt' it should display all content and where it is pointing

you still using optware.. should be removed... very insecure

my opiinion your NAS has issue

you should have other symlink here
