Re: [ Domoticz ] [ 20.2.11995 ] lightweight Home Automation System
Hi wackid,
I am afraid you will not get much help on this forum. At least I didn't get it.
I made the same switch recently from Domoticz on a Pi to Domoticz running on my Qnap TS-351.
Works like a charm, well at least the old Domoticz version V10.717 unti QTS version 4.4.3.1439
If you have a later QTS version, than you need to Install Apache74 and after that you can install the newer Domoticz version: 2020.2.1195.
You find these on the QNAP repository page.
I tried the newest Domoticz version but experienced an issue with my Z-Wave devices. I just couldn't get it to run stable. This shouldn't necessarily be related to Domoticz running on Qnap, but after several attempts I went back to the old QTS and domoticz version.
Please share your experiences here, perhaps we could help each other.

Thanks for your reply. The main reason for my first NAS is that Google Photos stops their free cloud storage.
It remembered when ordering I have read on the Domoticz forum people run Domoticz on a Synology. So that's why i came here...
I wil try to get Domoticz running on the Qnap. But it will take some time because the main thing for me is to get the backups running. New stuff for me.
Just read on Domoticz forum that Domoticz synology not will be supported in the future. So that's a dead end too.

@QNAP_Stephane: is it difficult to convert Domoticz to the Qnap platform? Or is there a How To available?
It would be nice to try a Domoticz Beta version as some Z-Wave related bugs should have been solved.

Re: [ Domoticz ] [ 20.2.11995 ] lightweight Home Automation System
For now I do not see any reason to upgrade. I am staying on 4.4.3 for the time being.Franky69 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 12, 2020 7:35 pm Am I really the only one here?
What should I do? Either Stay on QTS 4.4.3.1439 with Domoticz V4.10.717 forever as this works fine or...
Upgrade to latest QTS, accept that I bought the wrong NAS brand as Domoticz, even with Apache74 will not run well on QNAP and find myself a new Domotic solution?
Would be nice if the latest Domoticz version that was made for 4.4.3 (or older) also still would be available for download.

Hi all. Domoticz released their new 2021 version: 2021.1.13191
Would it be possible to have this new version in the Qnap Repository?

Domoticz need a review QPKG
now binaries are running on a higher glibc...
unless Qnap OS upgrade glibc on a next firmware, i add to force to make it runs under another ELF
this mean a new package must be built

Bump to 2021.1.13191
this version runs under a Focal Ubuntu ELF due provided binaries by Domoticz Team require at least a glibc 2.28

Thank your looking into this Stephane.
Do I understand your correctly that due to these new binaries it is not possible to have a new qpkg? Or do you mean that it involves a lot of integration work?

Re: [ Domoticz ] [ 2021.1.13191 ] lightweight Home Automation System
it means the binaries provided by Domoticz team cannot runs natively on Qnap
i had to emulate the Ubuntu Focal ELF (ubuntu 20.04) to be able to runs the it on Qnap OS
now it is done next version should runs as well

I understand. The most important thing is that you were able to do it as I see that the new version is available in the repository!
That is great! Will try it tonight. Many thanks!

This version seems to run fine on my TS-351. The only thing is that sometimes I need to use Chrome and sometimes Internet Explorer to access certain functionality. Could this be related to Apache74?

As an example, making scripts with ‘Blocky’ does not work when I use Chrome. When using Internet Explorer it works fine.

Good to know. I will do some further testing.
