[ Bind DNS ] [ 9.14.8.0 ] DNS Server

Note :

since 4.3.5, Qnap firmware is using dnsmasq bridged to resolv.conf and using port 53 by default, you need to tweak configuration to make bind works properly

Backup your config before update
config files within /opt/Bind/etc (stop application within appcenter before config modification)

About :

BIND is open source software that implements the Domain Name System (DNS) protocols for the Internet. It is a reference implementation of those protocols, but it is also production-grade software, suitable for use in high-volume and high-reliability applications. The name BIND stands for “Berkeley Internet Name Domain”, because the software originated in the early 1980s at the University of California at Berkeley.

BIND is by far the most widely used DNS software on the Internet, providing a robust and stable platform on top of which organizations can build distributed computing systems with the knowledge that those systems are fully compliant with published DNS standards.

Is this version is compatible with QTS 4.3?

I just installed qts 4.3 and my bind 9.11 stopped working, it won't start. Is there a way to make it works with this version? Im using BIND from the QNAP CLUB, I saw on your site it's compatible with 4.2. 1 but I upgraded by mistake.

Can you help me please?

Did you install the x64 version of the QPGK listed above once you went from 32-bit QTS 4.2 to 64-bit QTS 4.3?

did you remove it first ? (backup your config)

and reinstall 64bits version, if install over, 32/64 libs may conflict

Thanks for this! I'm totally new to BIND and really just experimenting with it on my QNAP (TS-251+, QTS 4.3.3.0210) to learn.

I've been able to install it, configure named.conf (based on some things I learned by Googling), and start it up. However, I'm not seeing any logs being generated and the DNS server does not respond (I'm using nslookup and ping from a windows 10 machine after overriding its DNS server to the IP address of my QNAP). The entire contents of my named.conf is below.

Can you point me in the right direction?

My named.conf file:

acl goodclients {
192.168.1.0/24;
localhost;
localnets;
};

options {
directory "/var/cache/bind";

recursion yes;
allow-query { goodclients; };

dnssec-validation auto;

auth-nxdomain no; #conform to RFC1035

listen-on-v6 { any; };
};

I was able to figure this out. It was basically because I have no idea what I'm doing. :-) I understand now that my named.conf needed to include more information (including references to root servers). Once I learned more about what needed to be in there, it all started working properly. Thanks!

I install Bind package in my QNAP but could not start named daemon.
I got the bellow error

I have the same "Can't load PKCS#11 provider" error.
Did you ever find a solution?
