Hi Stephanie.

I had a couple of conversations with QNAP support and its something that isnt possible. Would it be possible for you to raise it with R&D as it will have more weight coming from you and also I think there is a language barrier between the QNAP person I am speaking with on the support desk.

Is there no way of just installed XPAD which is a driver to get the Xbox36 controller working?

This is a great project I feel that it isnt worth much without the controller support - does anyone else agree?

ok. The reason I looked into doing RetroArch via HDStation is because I can't get Windows7 in VirtualisationStation to recognise/use OpenGL or Direct3D so that it can run EmulationStation/RetroArch.

Would you know how to get OpenGL or Direct3D to work in VirtualisationStation within XP? The basic drivers dont seam to be enough. Do you know if there is another driver somewhere? The standard update doesnt work.

Alternatively, do you know the exact graphics card brand/model so I can find one?

Thanks,

That explains why I couldnt get drivers to install when I used XP.

So are the built in ones the only option? If we knew the graphics card brand/model could we try and find drivers?

There's got to be a way of getting a controller to work somehow under some environment in Qnap. Any ideas?

Guess Linux Station instead of HDStation can be an option which should probably work

This is a really nice project. Just today, I discovered it by using the http://qnapclub.eu/ . At first it doesn't want to start. But following the steps by maudrid (copying the required libs) did the trick.

But your last comments seem that we can't use controllers using HDStation. :(

I will follow this topic to see if we are able to find a solution. It would be a really really cool feature to play games using emulators on the qnap. :P (At the moment, I'm using a RPi for this.)

Hi Stephanie, thanks! Does this mean that you'll look into the controller support?

I think this will help but I don't understand enough to try it:

Hi Stephanie, when it's possible for you to look at would you look into the controller support? Or could you raise it with your team to get controllers compatible with HDStation?

Thanks

Hi Stephane, thanks for your efforts! I really hope It works or that QNAP or someone can get a controller working otherwise it's a shame for the project as controllers are almost essential for emulators.

Thanks again.

Hi! I'm trying to do the same. I want to play emulators vía Qnap and my first attempt was to configure a Windows 7 and Ubuntu VMs. I realized that It cannot be done without 3d acceleration and there is no VirtualBox support since 2015, so we are stuck!!! Retroarch with HD Station are good news but there is only a patch compared to what we could do without the lack of 3D support. I have a Steam Link connected to my TV, so another good idea to get emulators+Steam game library+Controller support was to install Steam at Windows VM... adding "non Steam games to library" you can add your own Emulators and the Steam Link itself has a Dualshock3/Dualshock4/PC/XBOX controller support. But guess what?? Steam needs 3D acceleration to execute his UI!!!

Please Qnap, we need 3D acceleration support at Virtualization Station to have a decent display management!!!!

EDIT:
[/KVM/opt/bin] # virsh version
Compiled against library: libvirt 1.2.19
Using library: libvirt 1.2.19
Using API: QEMU 1.2.19
Running hypervisor: QEMU 2.3.1

[/KVM/opt/bin] # uname -r
3.19.8

MmmMmmMmm... maybe with an update? QEMU nowadays is on 2.7.0...
