please shutdown first your actual sonarr to test it (it us same 8989 port by default, due to lack of install instruction)
i do not merge volontary configuration folder (it uses /share/SONARR3_CONFIG instead)

What’s New
There is a ton of new stuff,
Some highlights:
New UI
Grouping of qualities in profiles
Remux and WebRip qualities
Language Profiles
Backup and Restore config/database from the UI
Manual Search is now Interactive Search (clarity between manually searching by pressing buttons and interactively selecting a search result)
Interactive Search filtering
Interactive Search for full seasons
Customize number of rows and columns for tabular data (series, queue, history, etc)
Series import
Drone Factory has been removed, it will not be coming back, though we have plans to improve the import process outside of basic flow

because its beta/testing then no it wont update at yet.
config is in a different location, : /share/SONARR3_CONFIG as stated in OP

Well yes, I got that, my question was just that - will v2 update to v3 when it reaches beta/stable or not

regarding Sonarr forum
you can upgrade V2 to V3
simply move your file to the new location, and start Sonarr V3 (may be delete previous one created on first install within SONARR3_CONFIG)

OK took the plunge. Backed up Sonarr2. downloaded zip file. uninstalled Sonarr2, installed Sonar3 and restored last backup. all works well so far. nice new layout!

Layout seems nice indeed, more 'conventional' but more practical. Any other new stuff you noticed?

Successful behind Nginx reverse proxy:
- backed up Sonarr 2.0
- stopped Sonarr 2.0 (did not uninstall because I am a coward)
- installed Sonarr 3.0
- restored 2.0 backup into 3.0
working flawlessly as far as I can tell right now

So you need to stop 2.0 from auto-starting and set v3 to auto-start, I guess? How is that done?

Stephane, I noticed a cosmetic issue with the folder and backups.
I have two folders here:
/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/SONARR_CONFIG3
/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/SONARR3_CONFIG
the first just has this folder in it, /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/SONARR_CONFIG3/sonarr_backup
files: config.xml
sonarr.db
I think possibly maybe a type somewhere and this extra folder was added?

exporting HOME and TMPDIR in wrong directory (typo error)
fixed my diff
