I contacted help desk and they were very helpful (even gave me compiled driver to try with my system), but it didn't work anyway. So I ended up spending little more on Raspberry Pi and it works great for me. I now have a proper kernel with all drivers out of the box, apt package manager and I can now turn on power schedule on my NAS leaving Raspberry 24/7. If you have x86 NAS, that's a different case, so you might want to try help desk as well. Cheers!

Um...just Google it? Or look directly at the openHAB website?

If you have it installed and working, http://docs.openhab.org/tutorials/beginner/index.html is a good place to get your feet wet.

Hi all!
With a TS212 firmware 4.2.2 Build 20161214

I've installed Java for ARM, and openHAB 2.0.'0.0 package from
https://github.com/openhab/openhab-qnap-qpkg/releases

on app center openhab is active but if I click the icon I cannot see any webpage both with firefox and IE.

netstat -ntlu prompted:
tcp 8890 and 8444 are in listen mode as 8080

any hint on how to fix this?
maybe the problem with the package is that I have an ARM processor and a different version of java?
how can I debug this problem that is happening on thw different qnap nas?

thank you

Resurrecting this thread as I was surprised to see so little clear information on getting Openhab2 working on QNAP with Z wave when synology seems quite straightforward.

I found the OpenHAB instructions: http://docs.openhab.org/installation/qnap.html but no mention of required firmware, have opened an issue with the developer to confirm.

I see other threads that explain beta 4.3 is required for Z wave usb stick, but other than that this forum seems to be lacking information unfortunately.

Hi,

Everything is working out of the box.

Don´t install jdk8 you have to enable it, i suppose you have to write some sort of command to enable, so if you are a noob install JRE8, then install the git qpkg and off you go.

At least i can open it, lets see if i can add some addons to it and start playing with it in a user way.

What is openHAB?
openHAB is a software for integrating different home automation systems and technologies into one single solution that allows over-arching automation rules and that offers uniform user interfaces.

This means openHAB
  • is designed to be absolutely vendor-neutral as well as hardware/protocol-agnostic
  • can run on any device that is capable of running a JVM (Linux, Mac, Windows)
  • lets you integrate an abundance of different home automation technologies into one
  • has a powerful rule engine to fulfill all your automation needs
  • comes with different web-based UIs as well as native UIs for iOS and Android
  • is fully open source
  • is maintained by a passionate and growing community
  • is easily extensible to integrate with new systems and devices
  • provides APIs for being integrated in other systems

Any kind of feedback is welcome. :)

btw: I still don't know how to provide additional information (like description and screenshot) in the App Center.

resurrecting this thread, it looks like the developer of the OpenHAB QPKG is having issues with his NAS and is unable to continue development, there have been no updates since May:

https://github.com/openhab/openhab-qnap-qpkg/releases

I have raised a package request here on the forum, please do show your support for this on the thread!
